Abkhazia in Georgia

Russia is occupying  Georgia’s regions – South Ossetia (Samachablo) and Abkhazia, which are internationally recognized as forming part of Georgia. Russia maintains military presence in the breakaway regions of South Ossetia (Samachablo) and Abkhazia on the basis of agreements concluded with these entities without the consent of Georgia.

While Russia and few other States recognize these entities as independent States, an overwhelming majority of States considers them as part of an internationally recognized territory of Georgia.
